NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION
It's that time of year when
we are getting ready
to flip the calendar and
face the new year, exchanging
2020 with 2021. We have
determined our new year's
goals, plans, and commitments.
Reality hits: 95 % never keep
their resolutions, 5% do so feebly,
and 5% soar with the eagles.
* The weigh is still on, maybe a little more
*The cause is still boring
* The relationship is without sparkle
* The bucket list still has all the dreams
* The writing of more poems, even a book, no.
Nothing left but forgotten words and
false promises to self and others.
Maybe we just need to make
one big challenging resolution:
How about Shakespeare's
Hamlet, Acts 1 scene 3.
"To thy own self be true,
and it must follow as the night
the day, thou canst not then be
false to any man."
Look in the mirror and resolved
this ONE thing. We'll ALL have
a happy, blessed, and prosperous
2021.
