INQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW (#3)
He shyly approached
we after class and asked
if he could ask me a
question in my office,
which I wasn't accustomed
to do, but I had noticed
him in class as being
timid, not bartering with
questions.
He started the conversation
by stating he was gay.
I responded with,"That's
an okay choice for you.
What's your question?"
"Well, I've always wondered
why a woman can be penetrated
in her anus with acceptance
and man cannot because it
is taboo, illegal, or wrong.
Also, a man may be penetrated
in his anus by a woman's finger
of with a sex toy shaped like a penis
with no rejection but a man
is viewed as a pervert by some.
Why the double standard?"
I tried to answer and encourage
him; if that's his desire
then it's okay...plus many other
encouragements and suggestions.
How would you have answered
or responded to his questions?

The root of why it's taboo is religion.
That would be my answer, I think.
Maybe also some ideas about masculinity -- who is penetrating who. Fear of effeminacy.
The happiest men have nothing to prove.
