Dancing with the dead
Victorian piano plays
We waltz across the ballroom
Lost in each other's eyes
The music slows and distorts
We lose our step
We're lost in time
The crowd disappears
Or were they ever there
I try to hold you close
But I'm losing touch
Your skin is cold
And slowly fades
The music slows
And back in time
You fade from view
Of my tear filled eyes
I stand alone
In an empty room
And you're at rest
In your eternal tomb
We waltz across the ballroom
Lost in each other's eyes
The music slows and distorts
We lose our step
We're lost in time
The crowd disappears
Or were they ever there
I try to hold you close
But I'm losing touch
Your skin is cold
And slowly fades
The music slows
And back in time
You fade from view
Of my tear filled eyes
I stand alone
In an empty room
And you're at rest
In your eternal tomb

Dear KM,
Wonderful imagery with attention to the details. I really saw two people dancing then fading away. The heartbreak of the person left behind was palpable. Great write. H🌷
