The Comfort Zone
I keep my deepest emotions
like love and devotion
built up in a bottle
at the bottom
of the ocean
you’re diving deep
and if you dive
a little deeper
you might see
the me
that's
trapped
beneath the surface
and I’m inexplicably nervous
shaking in my boots
my foundation
quaking
beneath my feet,
tugging tightly
at my roots
but I refuse to let loose
I plant myself
firmly
into the dirt,
taking shelter
from the tumultuous
winds of change
and the torrential
rains of hurt
so, I sit in stagnant waters
a stick in the mud
stuck
begging for change,
questioning my worth
and letting fear
steer this ship
right into the earth
like love and devotion
built up in a bottle
at the bottom
of the ocean
you’re diving deep
and if you dive
a little deeper
you might see
the me
that's
trapped
beneath the surface
and I’m inexplicably nervous
shaking in my boots
my foundation
quaking
beneath my feet,
tugging tightly
at my roots
but I refuse to let loose
I plant myself
firmly
into the dirt,
taking shelter
from the tumultuous
winds of change
and the torrential
rains of hurt
so, I sit in stagnant waters
a stick in the mud
stuck
begging for change,
questioning my worth
and letting fear
steer this ship
right into the earth
