Image for the poem Sunset

Sunset

The sun climbs down from the evening sky.
It slowly drops behind the peak of the mountain
And gently touches the surface of the sea.

The amber and purplish sunset fascinates me.
In a few minutes or so, the sun will disappear.
Darkness will cover the land and crickets will chirp.

I stand alone on a slope overlooking the valley.
It’s so peaceful and quiet out here at dusk,
But I can’t ignore the loneliness in my heart.

The beauty of sunset temporarily eases my pain.
Evenfall is my solace when I’m on this ridge.
I wish I could follow the sunset across the globe.

The appearance of sunset is like nothing else.
I travelled westward to see this awesome sight.
On this calm crepuscule my spirit is satisfied.
