Alas, the only thing anyone ever told me after a break up was what a jerk they all thought he was while we were dating. Not that I somehow didn’t already know it deep down.

I think your first stanza and the reference to softening the middle of the mattress is stellar. It’s so nice to see you return, although if this breakup is a current situation I’m very sorry. This poem is excellent. H🌷

I'm sorry to hear that. But after all is said and done, things usually become much clearer, indeed.

This is my current situation, yes. But I will grow from this as well and move on eventually. Poetry helps.
As usual, I am a writing nomad. I disappear and return and do it all again when it feels right.

Aww, Delanee... breakups are tough. Sometimes change is difficult, but a necessary catalyst for growth. I hope you feel better and heal up to become even stronger than before <3

Hmm, it's harrowing to be left in the ruins, left to pick up the pieces asking questions that may never get answered. Perhaps in time, with retrospect, more will make sense and the heartbreak only makes you stronger.
