Bureaucratic Lives Don't Matter

The older I get,
in age and wisdom,
the more I appreciate administration and bureaucracy,
because such systems at the end of the day
are post-it notes on a black hole's rim:
that don't give a damn who or what you are
and will never hold it against you
as they fight information, not humanity.

Bureaucratic Lives Don't Matter
Because;
To Bureaucracy
Any And All Life Is Not An Issue.
Its all about death and taxes
so life is not assessed or charged.
 
They are attempts to bring order to chaos
that defies madness and heroics
that fundamentally are doomed to legacy;
such paper trails benefit descendants
long, long, long after the scribes are dust.

So long as boxes are ticked,
and categories assigned;
any and all can do as they please
for such fixings look not to judge
but record and consign to history
a brief snapshot of snatched observations unable to convey the true complexity of life.

No one matters,
no one,
so all are equal;
lines drawn so that they can be travelled down
to where something might be done to benefit life
but the boon is only a guess at best;
far better than doing nothing at all,
because the apathetic administration could not provide universal compassion without collapsing into inaction
and thereby failing all.

Efficiency in process allows the capacity for care
by those who have the time and energy
who reap the rewarding rush of serotonin
because information servants have sacrificed their shrinking commodity
of time
to take account of today to use in the next tomorrow
and are unpraised every day.

It takes strength to not live for the moment
and it is a deep potency to provide for the future.
