Scott Weiland

You broke onto the scene
With a growl and a stare
A confident swagger
With charisma to spare

Then came success
For good and for bad
But those perks you learned
Help take away the sad

Then the vices took over
And consumed your life
The band of Brothers
Became smothered with strife

But the music kept coming
And filled a void
No one could turn
From this unbridled joy

The addictions you faced
Seemed to be in the past
And with your new band
You were having a blast

But others took notice
Of cracks starting to show
And we braced ourselves
For an inescapable blow

Sometimes you would capture
That magic at night
But your eyes were vacant
There was no more light

Then came the news
That we had long dread
That beautiful soul
Scott Weiland was dead

Author's Note
Scott Weiland was one of my favorite singers. I grew up with his music and was lucky enough to see him in concert a couple of times. He dealt with addiction a long time and that's what killed him in the end. R.I.P.
