A Poem For My God

In less than 12 hours, I have received 2 requests for prayer and a death announcement...

On my way home, I decided to start a conversation with my Father, but my fingers began to itch and my brain started to burn.

I will start out by charging satan to FALL BACK, because there is NO ROOM for him in this talk!

Father God,

I THANK YOU!

I thank you for articulation of my speech and movement of my limbs.

I THANK YOU!

For reaching maturity. Showing me things in my life that brought forth Knowledge, Understanding and Appreciation.

I THANK YOU!

For allowing me to be exactly who I am and knowing that as YOUR child, I have flaws and I am imperfect.

Lord, I love you.

I love while I am going about my daily business, I can talk to you. I can seek answers to questions that NO man can give me an answer to. While these words were swirling around in my head, I heard you say, "You can write a poem to everyone else, why not me?"

That plain truth struck me as hard as a tangible thing.

A PRAYER IS A POEM TO GOD.

So Lord, I write this poem to Thank you, to Praise you and Beseech you.

Father God, while reaching my maturity, it has brought about some harsh realities.

It makes me remember things that my parents taught me: Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it. Proverbs 22:6.

I know when I need answers, I talk to you.

I know when I need comfort, I turn to you.

When I need, understanding, Lord I seek you out for clarity...

As I get older, so are the people who mean so MUCH to me. My parents, aunts, uncles, teachers and personal counselors. With age comes illness and death.

Father God, it hit me! It hit me hard today!

More and more my friends and I are requesting prayer from each other.

I am recognizing more of what I have been taught.

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. Ecclesiastes 3 (The Beatitudes)

For I humbly ask you to shore us, your children up as we face new challenges Lord.

Those who still are blessed with our elders, I pray that you help us to understand that your will is your way. I pray that you guide the hands and the minds of the medical professionals we place our loved ones in their care, Oh Lord. For there is NO greater doctor than yourself.

I dedicate this poem to YOU, FATHER.

I pray that this poem reaches YOU, in representation of my Sisters, Karen Hudson and Arlene Lawrence.

I pray that you find this poem pleasing to YOU for my friends who are losing their loved ones all around them.

Most of all I pray that you know your child's heart, Me.

Knowing that I know that a prayer is my poem for my GOD.

Amen...
