Forgotten
Metaphorically speaking,
This dusty faucet is leaking;
My nails have all rusted,
And the floorboards are creaking.
My pages are worn,
And there's a hole in the wall
Next to an old rocking chair
That rests in the hall.
In the seat of the chair,
Sits a velveteen bear;
His buttons are missing,
And he's losing his hair.
With a corduroy vest,
Sewn onto his chest,
And the faded blue jeans
In which he was dressed.
He's tattered and torn,
All alone and begotten.
In the home he was born,
He will soon be forgotten.
