Message Me

Speak to me at night
Send me words with meanings half veiled
Suspended
Left hanging in the air
Like thoughts waiting to be finished
Even as one would finish a sentence
While the other was speaking
My mind enjoying all the possibilities
Yet fleeting -
So in answer you might speak again
(Fortunately my imagination races)

Words
Wisps of things that catch the light of the eye
Drawing me in that I might see better
Like little kisses that ask is this alright
And reply
We shall see what we shall see

So few words
So brief
But shared again and again
As if word for action
The glance, the smile, the subtle tilt of the head
building anticipation
The measure and the match
To see how each one fits
A game of wits and cunning craft

The not quite said
The unfinished question
The ever so subtle change of direction
As we dart and we dance around words
To get a feel one for the other
As much as we dare but not too leading
But who needs to lead the willing
As I read in the lines a soft spoken nudge

Just to send is interest
And return acceptance
Is this not an understanding
And to understand a little is to desire to know more
Another answer
More steady words
As we learn the language of the other
And hope for the familiar
A trust, a friend, a confidante
More...
