Distancing
This distance -
so much more than physical
deeper than social
The gulf between hearts
has never been so wide
And I'm falling into the dark cracks
of an ever-expanding universe
I ache
for three dimensional conversation,
the familiar oddities of tangible faces,
easy laughter
vulnerable grace
I keep bygones tucked safely
in the pocket nearest my heart,
hoping to feel their comfort
but it has faded
lifeless
gray
It would be fairly easy
to take my final step into eternity,
Just to feel the closeness
of beloved souls gone before me
No need for distance -
A net breaking my fall
The hope of that
companionship of the dead
makes the idea
disturbingly
appealing
so much more than physical
deeper than social
The gulf between hearts
has never been so wide
And I'm falling into the dark cracks
of an ever-expanding universe
I ache
for three dimensional conversation,
the familiar oddities of tangible faces,
easy laughter
vulnerable grace
I keep bygones tucked safely
in the pocket nearest my heart,
hoping to feel their comfort
but it has faded
lifeless
gray
It would be fairly easy
to take my final step into eternity,
Just to feel the closeness
of beloved souls gone before me
No need for distance -
A net breaking my fall
The hope of that
companionship of the dead
makes the idea
disturbingly
appealing
