forestry
the tree is a patient killer
he bides his time long; he watches you grow
laughs in the breeze beside you and your children
cries and wails with you in the storm
holds himself a shelter for you
all the while he pushes up through your floors
and stretches to the sun god
(who will eat us all)
so when you gasp your last, greying breath
he takes you in his tendrils deep beneath the earth
to feed his oakmoss;
and he waits then for your young ones
and he will have them all
he bides his time long; he watches you grow
laughs in the breeze beside you and your children
cries and wails with you in the storm
holds himself a shelter for you
all the while he pushes up through your floors
and stretches to the sun god
(who will eat us all)
so when you gasp your last, greying breath
he takes you in his tendrils deep beneath the earth
to feed his oakmoss;
and he waits then for your young ones
and he will have them all
