Shadows and Stars
I look up at the night sky
Watching the stars in the firmament
Asking myself many questions
Wondering where this camaraderie went
I have so many doubts
Thinking I must’ve said something wrong
I can’t communicate being so far away
And yet feeling somewhat guilty all along
I go over it in my head
Assuming that my words were unkind
But you know how us poets can be
Pondering deeply with a troubled mind
I know I’m not perfect
I’ve been known to make mistakes
So I sit here amidst the shadows
Watching the stars with countless shapes
I write this verse to the universe
Asking for forgiveness for any offence
In the meantime I lie awake and wait
Spilling ink with anxiety and suspense
