Senryu - Tentempié

Author's Note
Tentempié is Spanish (castellano) for snack. Sunflower seeds are one of the favorite de paseo (go for a walk) snacks of the Spanish. It's hard to walk a foot of sidewalk without treading on the salted, roasted hulls of pipas de girasol. The way they are eaten by the Spanish is by holding the seed sideways between the thumb and index finger, cracking the spine with front teeth, and twisting the hull to extract the kernel. As opposed to the Major League Baseball Method of shoving a handful of seeds in your mouth and spitting out the hulls...a healthy, less gross, replacement to chaw (chewing tobacco). It's actually a fun, long-lasting pastime and a great source of copper, manganese, and selenium :D

Thank you, Sweet-O! May be trivial to some but a fond memory for me. Thank you for getting the spirit.

Yes I tend to educate on the important gastronomic issues. I am pleased that you like this walk down memory lane and all on sunflower seed hulls. I am eating some right now <3<3
