I Wish.

I wish I had the power to reach into your being

take out all the damage into my hands and remove it from you

press the reset button and start you again from fresh

the second chance you needed but were never able to get.

I wish I could look into you amazing eyes without the hint of sorrow that haunts them

without the hint of fear in your smile and the faint cry in your laugh

I wish I had the power to make it all ok again and punish those who hurt you

force them to take it back and beg for your forgiveness!

Miracles are subjective, they only happen when they're not relevant.

The more we need one, the scarcer they are.

So instead I'll simply hold you, its all I can do.

I'll help you exorcise the demons within by the shedding of tears as they dampen my shoulder.

As you release protected within the shelter of my arms, comforted by the beating of my sympathetic heart, I will be cleansed.

Baptised by tears, so that my own can return the favour, and our demons can drown and drift away.

I wish.
