if I could tell you
The boxes are stacked around me
And I lay here curled up in my bed
I thought I would have a moment to tell you
That I was leaving for Seattle in a few months
But a few months has turned into five days
How do I tell you I won't be there...
When this sickness is over...
When the world opens back up
I'll already be gone in the wind
You could have asked me to stay
But we didn't know that'd be our last time... huh
Maybe you too thought we had time, too
What is time between the likes of us?
We will always be coming and going
Always and forever a maybe
I have loved you since I was thirteen
And I go knowing that I will be back
Maybe you will still be here, in the town we love
Maybe I'll finally admit I love you
Maybe then we'll be more than...
Passing ships in our lives
And I lay here curled up in my bed
I thought I would have a moment to tell you
That I was leaving for Seattle in a few months
But a few months has turned into five days
How do I tell you I won't be there...
When this sickness is over...
When the world opens back up
I'll already be gone in the wind
You could have asked me to stay
But we didn't know that'd be our last time... huh
Maybe you too thought we had time, too
What is time between the likes of us?
We will always be coming and going
Always and forever a maybe
I have loved you since I was thirteen
And I go knowing that I will be back
Maybe you will still be here, in the town we love
Maybe I'll finally admit I love you
Maybe then we'll be more than...
Passing ships in our lives
