Destined Child

Verse 1:
He was in existence from the very beginning,
From the moment God proclaimed...“let there be light!”
The light swallowed the darkness whole
So we had a day and we had the night...right?
He was as bright as the star, far up high in the sky
The three all have similar characteristics
Because they are the same...three in one
But one had to agree to dispatch from the three
The father had to let go of the son
Ripped off his majesty and fellowship of heaven
Forsake haven like a raven to be in the midst of vultures.

Verse 2:
He was destined to come...he was destined to be born
Nothing, absolutely nothing could prevent his arrival
No matter how controversial this may sound
He was destined to hit the ground
He forsakes his glory so that one day
One may tell of his magnificent true story
Of how his birth was an inevitable and noble cause
To the whole human race...and how do we know that?

Verse 3:
Christmas...Christmas tells of that time
Of Jesus nativity, the doorway to man's liberty; and the intriguing thing is that, centuries upon centuries before his birth
Prophets of old foretold of his coming
The book of psalms, Micah, Zechariah, and Jeremiah
all had little pieces of the puzzle yet to unravel.
His birth was not meant to be kept confidential
Or go haywire either...but to display to the world
That the savior was born.

Verse 4:
Now tell me...If he was a King, shouldn’t he have laid in a royal cradle?
Delivered in a royal palace with prestigious parents?
Quite shocking, isn’t it?
Despite his great power and authority
He was wrapped in swaddling clothes and laid in a manger
Became the roommate of domestic animals
He lied in a feeding trough filled with hay, the food meant for horses
Not a soft cozy cushion.

Verse 5:
He became a baby; ten fingers, ten toes, two eyes, two ears, one mouth, and one nose
He cried like every other child,
wanting to be cuddled by his mother.
But the truth is...he is not just any child.
Though he stayed in her womb for nine months
like any other child...though he sucked her breast, so he could lay to rest, I can boldly beat my chest
And proclaim to the world...for unto you this day
In the city of David a savior, who is Christ
The son of God, the deliverer has come
to serve and not to be served.

Verse 6:
He was destined, there was no other option
He took up the mantle and nothing could blow out the candle.
Though indeed, they tried...and they tried a lot
His birth revolutionized the cause of history
Death could not captivate him, even from birth to death
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth
peace among those with whom he is pleased!
Hallelujah to the son of God.
