1st Transudation
(twenty-seven of 30 - Official DUP NaPo/GloPoWrimo 2020)
i lightly knocked at
Hell’s front door
seeking relief from
Arizona desert’s floor
another summer
has awakened the sun
potential heat exhaustion
has now begun while
triple digit Fahrenheit’s
begin to soar and i
feel as though i’m
melting once more!
Reprieve will come
now and then
by way of a monsoon
three, 4 or more
bringing tepid rains
to a thirsty land as
lightning illuminates
the way!
This year i got to
take photos of
the flowers bloom
right after the
first monsoon.

i prefer cold weather
and this is the 2nd time moving to and living in Arizona
come to think of it. . .
i've lived in more hot weather places (like Hawaii)
than cold place. Must be for self-penance.
i am more than envious of Your weather, now!!!
lol

LOL -- yeah it will and on the east coast it gets sssoooo Freakin muggy (what i recall when i visited MA)
Here in AZ, we have the BEST winters
which is why lots of Northeasterners hold dual state residences and homes. We call them snowbirds.
& almost all of the snowbirds have flown the desert coop.
i used to see a Wisconsin license plate in the parking lot every morning and i've not seen it for days and so probably went home.

i meant to post a pic of the flowers last year here in the Deep but got sidetracked -- definitely gonna do this, this year.
i love monsoons (not the flash flood part)
the warm rains and even the lightning and i love to walk in the stuff even with the risk of being struck down.
Walking amidst the storm with risk IS KIND OF romantic in an exciting sensual way.

Oh man, this brought back memories of living in Phoenix. I once had to walk 5 miles on a 120 degree day with my daughter in her stroller. You could see smoke rolling off the wheels of the stroller and heat dancing on the pavement. It's not an experience I'd ever want to repeat. Arizona heat is no joke. I do miss the monsoons though, oddly enough. Find you a cool patch and keep safe

The hottest day for me was 128 F
and oddly enough it was hailing and a chunk hit me in forehead and blood was gushing out but i thought it was sweat and when the office ladies saw me when i went to check in before after-school chess club they immediately called for the Nurse!!
i have many horror past events related to AZ heat. i used to live in south Scottsdale and worked in Phoenix until i got a job teaching chess and then i had to drive all over the Phoenix metro area to schools in the super heat. I now have a beach towel in the care to put over my legs while driving in the summer time.

I'm originally from Minnesota...Arizona was a distinct shock to my system. How do you not melt away utterly? Those 2 years were the first time I began to worship the deity called AC...

Where i am at now (20 minutes driving time, south of Tuscon) is semi-rural and very quiet with few street lamps. So at night it's surreal as the sky lights up and You often can't even see the wildlife comin' at You!! LOL!!
But it's very different from the constant traffic noise i used to endure when i lived in Southern California. & some summers in CA, it would get just as hot only the apts had no A/C!! & it was effin humid.
@ least here the heat is dry.
