Grassy Green Hills, Forever
Sunday drives are what gets life off my mind
Diverts it off my normal train of thought
It resembles my car today, swerving along unfamiliar roads
Truck trails and dirty tires
Is how you know you’re far out
The further I go
The greener it gets
The landscape welcomes me
With a soft emerald kiss
When I got to the grassy green hills
The sun was on its way
Taking a dive below those statuesque mountains
And though I was sad to see it go
I couldn’t help but smile at the shadows it left below
The valley faded to yellow, a bright scene to cherish
I ran as fast as my feet could carry this adventurous frame
Perhaps to catch a glimpse of shining green, to close my evening
I’m the fastest blonde in town
But even the grassy green hills knew I was outmatched
Grassy green hills forever
How can I catch eternity on my own?
When I turned to the distant dot of gray
Known as my vehicle
I determined I quite liked it here
Even in the orange light
Perspective left me fuller than before
And the desire for grassy green was history
Stamped in my memory permanently
I think I caught a slice of eternity
Diverts it off my normal train of thought
It resembles my car today, swerving along unfamiliar roads
Truck trails and dirty tires
Is how you know you’re far out
The further I go
The greener it gets
The landscape welcomes me
With a soft emerald kiss
When I got to the grassy green hills
The sun was on its way
Taking a dive below those statuesque mountains
And though I was sad to see it go
I couldn’t help but smile at the shadows it left below
The valley faded to yellow, a bright scene to cherish

Perhaps to catch a glimpse of shining green, to close my evening

Grassy green hills forever

When I turned to the distant dot of gray

Stamped in my memory permanently
I think I caught a slice of eternity
