Not-a-poem on the back of a postcard (Day 24)

I would have written you a poem
but I couldn't think of what to say,
say in the colloquial way mind you
seeing as a poem is written
and I haven't the voice to sing it as song,
so instead you got this:
some words jumbled up
and splurged upon the page
like a newly ex-virgin:
all quick and overly apologetic
and not skilled enough to make it last longer.
Well I would have written you a poem,
so how's things with you these days?
