That's an interesting thought... and I think you are right. I can write a poem just about anytime, but the times that they turn out the best are often the times which I am being most vulnerable (pouring my heart and feelings on to the page), rather than putting much thought and time into brainstorming to come up with well-fleshed out ideas. Usually later, I'll go back and tweak these 'emotional spills' when I am feeling more objective, and the result ends up being a mix between my objective, technical writing style, and abstract, emotion-based writings. Anyway... agree completely, some of the most hard-hitting poems of mine were drafted in mere minutes while I was feeling a certain emotion.

I believe it's the same with music. You can have great technical abilities, but be an emotional potato, and your music will just never SPEAK to people, you know? You can write or play an instrument all day long, but you really have to FEEL it to produce something... moving.

I have heard that the world needs people skilled in STEM subjects and when I see this I keep saying to myself STEAM is more accurate because the Arts are the soul of every nation.

Albert Einstein said it best in this quote :

"With this breath in our bodies
No matter what happens

I am trying to absorb your submissions like water entering a sponge

So true
I wish I was able to turn of the fear
I often get stuck mid poem,
something reacts in me
other times it just keeps flowing.
I wonder often if fear is like pain ,
never really goes away for good
just fades in and out with our emotions.
