Why the best thing in life have to die

Someone tell me why,
Why the best thing in life have to die?
We were perfect,
We were magic.
You and I were like fire.
Burnt so bright never thought we'd die.

For a second there I thought we'd withstand the test of time.
Whatever came our way we'd withstand the tides.
Deep inside I know we tried.
We gave it our all before we lost the fight.
We both lost our fingers before letting this go.
Wherever you are just know I still care for you.
If possible I'd leave everything behind Just for you.

When we made love we raised hell.
We were the best and the world could tell.
Believe me I wouldn't trade our memories for anything else.
If they ask I'd still say you're the best.
We had our moment and we ran with it like hell.

Someone tell me why,
Why the best thing in life have to die?..
Someone tell me why,
Why I feel this way...
Wherever you are I know you feel the same.
In my heart you posses the most precious place.
I promise no one will ever take your place.
We went down swinging,
I'm sorry we went down this way.
I don't know why,
But even the best things in life have to die.
