Fairy tale Whimsy

In my favorite fairy tale the girl
Is both a princess and a cursed dragon
And the only way for her to be freed
Is if the prince lets himself be turned to stone
They both end up fine, but he didn't know that going in

My heart takes the form of many things
Beast, Labyrinth, Dragon and The girl in the secret garden
I love so easily behind these walls
Weaving myself stories of true love
But no one really wants a fairy tale curse like me
 
I'm not a princess or a dragon
I don't cry precious gems
I don't dance in glass slippers
I won't exchange my voice for a part of your world
And a kiss won't awaken me from death

I am the witch who lives in the forest
Unbending to a cruel king and cursing rude princes
I am the magic behind the scenes
A crone offering love to all who seek it
But never really finding it for my own
