I love you because
You remind me of the smell of coffee
When I no longer have the sense of smell.
Running across a silent city
Screaming at the top of our lungs in excitement.
Getting absolutely lost
When the world is looking for us.
Phone calls at night on my way to work,
Looking over lights reflecting on water.
Waking up next to your silent voice
As you breathe in my ear--
With your head on my chest
Like a baby safe and trusting.
I love you because to you
I'm a good person. I'm kind and caring.
Because to you, I'm the sweetest.
Because with you--I'm no longer
The person everyone makes me out to be.
I'm just a person you know
Whom you feel safe with. A person you can love.
With you. I'm safe. I'm happy.
With you, I can believe in something bigger again.
With you, I'm just me.
When I no longer have the sense of smell.
Running across a silent city
Screaming at the top of our lungs in excitement.
Getting absolutely lost
When the world is looking for us.
Phone calls at night on my way to work,
Looking over lights reflecting on water.
Waking up next to your silent voice
As you breathe in my ear--
With your head on my chest
Like a baby safe and trusting.
I love you because to you
I'm a good person. I'm kind and caring.
Because to you, I'm the sweetest.
Because with you--I'm no longer
The person everyone makes me out to be.
I'm just a person you know
Whom you feel safe with. A person you can love.
With you. I'm safe. I'm happy.
With you, I can believe in something bigger again.
With you, I'm just me.
