Before Regret Hits

tell me again
how I don't have it
tell me again
how I never did
it doesn't matter
you aren't the only one who
underestimates me
I live up to my own standards
though that doesn't mean I don't care
I want you to be proud
but it has to be on my own terms
funny how people break you down
thinking it builds them up
look, I know life sucks
being eaten alive by cancer
there's enough evil in this world
let's not pretend we're enemies
truth is I'm human
no more a Devil
like you're no more a God
though sometimes it's fun to pretend
maybe one day that fantasy will come true
guess what I'm trying to say is
I love you, friend
regardless of differences
I want to see you shine
sorry if I can't always be there
I'm going through my own problems
but I do always think of your well being
life is pain
it takes so much power to be human
one day we all get gone
maybe we can see more smiles
and less hurt
fuck the jealousy
we all hold our own worth
let's build each other up for now on
before regret hits
