forget her
push
maybe run
i froze, enduring
letting a starving spark be fed
my heart like a wild animal
tormented behind bars
or frozen iron doors
tell me
when you saw her fire coming
did you even think to shield me from her vengeful flame?
for your words alleviated my fears
like a balloon released
until it wandered back to me
fuller, almost popping
but you did one thing
you showed me that words are specks of dust that come and go
and actions catch them
build them into something
she stomped all over me
what a dusty sting
what a disgusting thing
you forced from her an empty sorry
and held within you, a rightful apology
