Graves
I walked up on three graves one night
While wandering alone
I looked down at the darkness and I saw what might have gone
The three of us laying low and cold inside the graves I saw
But after some contemplation lord
I wanted to lay down
I wanted to lay down oh lord!
And take my final rest
For this old world is wearin me down
I’m far from doing my best
The grave in front of me ran low
It’s sorrows washed away
The grief and pain of mortal life
What I would give to dance with death but only for one night
To feel her arms around me lord the thought gives me a fright
Death comes for us in time it’s true
I’m here, I can attest
I wish that she would come with me
And lay me down to rest
The night, it grew so dark and cold
I knew I’d lost my way
I felt her presence pulling me down deep into one of those graves
She haunts my dreams ever since that night
Dressed all in black and lace
Her eyes are burned into my mind
I wont forget that face
While wandering alone
I looked down at the darkness and I saw what might have gone
The three of us laying low and cold inside the graves I saw
But after some contemplation lord
I wanted to lay down
I wanted to lay down oh lord!
And take my final rest
For this old world is wearin me down
I’m far from doing my best
The grave in front of me ran low
It’s sorrows washed away
The grief and pain of mortal life
What I would give to dance with death but only for one night
To feel her arms around me lord the thought gives me a fright
Death comes for us in time it’s true
I’m here, I can attest
I wish that she would come with me
And lay me down to rest
The night, it grew so dark and cold
I knew I’d lost my way
I felt her presence pulling me down deep into one of those graves
She haunts my dreams ever since that night
Dressed all in black and lace
Her eyes are burned into my mind
I wont forget that face
