Little Heroes - Meet "The Captain"

"No, please! Let her sleep. I want to babysit." Every morning this is the mantra. He's only seven, going on 17. Little blonde hero with long crazy calico hair with patches of platinum hair all through it. He really does help me, too.

He doesn't usually wake me when he wakes, he just sneaks around and takes care of everything, from warming up the tv to washing a bottle for a hungry tot who also woke up. I never have to listen to grumpy wailing in the morning unless he's trying to deal with tangled wills.

But usually I wake up first and he's directing his pleas towards me about letting his sisters sleep in. Wait! Before you assume he's just trying to control the T.V. ... you are only half right!

"Would you like to watch a bird hatch with me?" That was him last night. Together the children and I watched a lovedbird scream and kick its way out of a tiny egg. I was so interested in how he continued that way again and again, encouraging us to be part of the choices he made.

He is more than just an adorable ring-leader; he prides himself as the rescuer of all the downtrodden. He will even take blows to shield one baby from another, without striking back.

You have never met a sweeter boy unless he's mad at the Prankster dumping raw rice on his head while he was peacefully driving the remote through fun vids. Then I'm trying to get him to stop hollering and chasing. I can't even write about it without laughing. I promise didn't feed the little troll. I kept the giggles to myself. That little stinker. He's gonna get the spotlight soon enough! ❤️

The Captain has plenty of internal passion. His older siblings have tasted his maverick sass. Fingers crossed, let's count on him taming the flames as he grows. I love it as long as it is controlled by wisdom.
