Aging
Floppy disks, 1 gigabyte flash drives, fax machines, video stores, cassette tapes, VCRs, dial-up modems, landlines with cords,
Humongous Games, "Emoticons", big, clunky, monitors, TVs, and keyboards,
Nokia phones, flip phones, the first PlayStation, CD players,
Spyro the Dragon 1-2, Dance Dance Revolution, Atlantis the Lost Empire, Treasure Planet, portable radios with cassette players,
Exorbitant prices for flat-screen TVs and early laptops, point-and-click adventure games, the Myst series,
Earlier Lisa Frank, slightly lower gas prices,
IPods and IPod Nanos, DVD/VCR combos, Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Tamagotchi, the first Xbox, Nintendo DS, the first Nintendo WII, and the Furby recall.
...I remember it all,
Aging has always been seen by so many,
As something extremly ugly,
And they can't escape the inevitability,
But in reality,
It's a wonderful thing,
I have seen,
If you can be keen,
And go through the process gracefully,
And then hopefully,
End up like the Baby Boomers,
Full of wisdom, kindness, knowledge, and a strong work ethic, unlike most of us "Zoomers".
Unlike most I know,
I remember the past with fondness, but know
To be in the present, and to also look to the future,
For that which to also incorporate into my personal culture.
Aging is a beautiful thing,
For one thing,
People gain so many experiences,
And then there's one of my weaknesses,
(I'll admit) I'm a sucker for interesting faces,
Like those with interesting, strong, noses, or especially, wrinkles in the right places,
Shows how they've loved, learned, smiled, and laughed,
Like a map of bardcraft,
Mapping out in song,
Everything they've ever experenced, and how far they've come along.
I hope one day, that will be me,
The cool old lady, that you see
Always dressing differently,
With my real elf ears, and my long, thick, silver, hair,
Flying without a care,
And never to snag,
Just like my freak flag
