The Weary Hour
The weary hour
The tired tread
When my thoughts do homeward bend
To my bower
My quiet bed
Where wake to sleep does seamless blend
Such is ours
Daylights fled
In such moments our love to tend
***
The common place of workdays end
The greetings and speakings at home again
The quick kiss and showers
And something for dinner
The all about our day
And bills, and chores and a hundred other things
That too often seems a ramble
A jumble
Just a rattle of idle prattle
That fills space with all but feelings
Just pause a moment
And let me slip my arms around you
Don't say a thing
Just lean into me
And rest awhile
Warm within my arms
Knowing
That all the other things I do
Are so I can spend moments like this with you
Your tired
I'm tired too
Sometimes life seems relentlessly so
With endless
Thoughtless things to do
But bear with me
Quietly
Pressed gently within my arms
And remember the me
Who so loves you
There'll be other times for holidays
And get aways
And deeply passionate intimacy
But sometimes when I'm oh so tired
Worn by the day and cares
I crave but the moment
The tender of touch
To know you know how I feel
I believe souls can speak
And touches heal
And ever I search for the light in your eyes
Which glows
As the first time they looked into mine
More worn perhaps with caring
And feeling
That reassures as I hold your gaze in mine
And finger to chin
Lift your lips to mine
To renew our promise
Just a moment
Just you
Just me
Just us before the fade to dreams
The tired tread
When my thoughts do homeward bend
To my bower
My quiet bed
Where wake to sleep does seamless blend
Such is ours

In such moments our love to tend
