I Love my Shadow More Than Me
i love my shadow more than me
because it always keeps me company
i am a useless human being
carelessly wandering
hoping to find someone
worth holding
but this shadow
looking, following
i can’t run far
before it catches up to me
i love my shadow
more than anything
or anybody
it’s disturbing
my mind is
twisted, evil, and ugly
but this shadow
righteously wicked
breakably binding
i lost myself
in a wave of uncertainty
but the presence of my shadow
tells me I’m bad at hiding
how sorry I am
with the painful reality
that I’m bound to a reflection
of my own foresaken body
because it always keeps me company

Just know this - as long as you have a shadow, you're standing in the light where you'll be seen. I personally think that's what our shadows are - reminders of that.
