Poet's Thanks
Taking aside his poetry
he wondered if it would be good enough
to make the lobster tap dance on the kitchen floor …
this one was not for the pot
but on a leash of the black man
befriended for life, hand in pincer
the two went well together
across the road a troupe of teenagers
sang a clip from the musical “Oliver”
then ran back home full of joy
recounting their late-night exploits
I will worry no more
but laugh.
Thanks be to God.

That's true - my rational mind though has a hard time persuading my instinct that this is the case :))

I certainly hope so...you are familiar with "Hotei" I take it?
I still have a tiny wooden sculpture of him...that I found on the ground... when I was eleven... H4U.. Ely

Thanks be to God that we have poets like you. Wonderful job Josh. You have a great sense of humor, and playful touch for the surreal.

Well thank you Crow - and for making a point of visiting me again. And you're right - this one had a surreal element that I am rarely able to get down on paper - truth is it came straight out of a dream (in fact was a 'short dream' which I wrote down the scenes from as best as I could remember them).
