no answers left—no answers right
Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.
Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy. — Proverbs 31:8-9
.i.
whichever way i turn
i see their bridges burn
no answers left
no answers right
no lessons here to learn
no matter how i yearn
no answers left
no answers right
bangled
mangled
tangled
dangled
strangled
sad peoples of the world
.ii.
the mothers i have seen
impoverished and lean
no passions left
no passions right
they have no time to wean
they wither in the green
no passions left
no passions right
conceived
retrieved
deceived
bereaved
aggrieved
spent mothers of the world
.iii.
their children in the streets
no haven for retreat
no rations left
no rations right
a journey of defeat
with nothing left to eat
no rations left
no rations right
sighing
crying
trying
lying
dying
lost children of the world
.iv.
working the meagre wage
guised slavery an outrage
no justice left
no justice right
converting straw to bricks
dense power politics
no justice left
no justice right
sired
wired
hired
tired
fired
worn workers of the world
.v.
rejected to the side
no pride or shame to hide
no mercy left
no mercy right
no safe place to abide
compassion here has died
no mercy left
no mercy right
groping
sloping
moping
coping?
hoping
starved peasants of the world
