beings;
Blinded from seeing.
Borrowed from home;
Brought here, then;
Bought here, then;
Broken down and left alone.
Bathing in the sun, day in and day out;
Being freed one day, no hope only doubt.
Black, strong, bonded, and usable;
Being forever beautiful.

THIS PIECE PUT ME IN THE STATE OF MIND OF OUR ANCESTORS COMING OVER BY SHIPS SITTING IN THE BOW OF SHIPS IN DARKNESS UNABLE TO MOVE AND SEE THE SUN FROM BEING TAKING FROM THE MOTHER LAND OF OUR BIRTH RIGHT OR BEING FREED ONLY TO BE WORKING IN THE HOT SUN PICKING COTTON IN THE FIELDS THIS IS JUST MY VISION AS A BLACK MAN 60 YEARS OLD AND I'VE SEEN THIS IN THE DEEP SOUTH AS A CHILD GROWING UP IN THE SOUTH DURING JIM CROW TIMES NOW I MAYBE WRONG BUT THIS IS WHAT I FELT FROM YOUR WORDS SPOKEN.
