My Shoes
MY SHOES”
I have walked many miles in my shoes
Climbed different mountains each with different views
They are covered in blood, sweat, tears, and dirt
The soles are worn from pain and hurt
My shoes are durable , so forward I stride
I will finish this race , I refuse to fall behind
My shoes signify my expedition, so tedious and long.
The different paths I took, some right and some wrong.
My shoes may be bent up and falling apart
Makes sense, they have carried right from the start
My shoes are no longer...

Been around the block enough, too smart to look foolish.
For you, I would have changed my last name.
Instead you showed me mama was right, all men are the same.
You wanna be out here entertaining hoes.
Thought I was your everything, but these streets you chose.
You wanna be treated like a man, but keep the actions of a child.
Its like you had no home training, out here running wild.
Trying to control me, keeping track of my moves.
Monitoring the shit I wear, quick to get in...

I am more than just a name.
Hidden behind my ink.
Sun kissed skin.
Tightly curled hair.
Hard headed.
Learning lessons.
Playing with fire,
Just to get burned.
Being content .
For this life i was given .
Mother killed by cancer.
Sperm donor never there.
Wanting to be loved.
Wanting to love.
Taking it day by day.
Insomnia, sleepless nights.
Now getting old,
Feeling aches and pains.
Needing more time,
There’s never enough.
Intelligent, yet immature.
Living, crying, and laughing.

Her presence grants me a serenity i cant explain.
My cheek bones weak at the sound of her name.
I try to erase thoughts of her, but my mind’s defiant.
i want her, but cant have her, im fighting my feelings in silence.
She pays close attention, one thing we have in common.
I want to act on my intuition, but i need to proceed with caution.
Her heart seems generous, kind and true..
A more intimate relation could be taboo.
Im becoming nervous when she's in my space..
like when your mom calls your full name and your heart begins...
