Down into Decay

From the sky,
Came a piece of time,
Before we existed,
And the will of a man,
Forced us into this existence,
Broke me with chains,
Tied me to the earth,
Made me wail and plead,
Made me beg,
Ocean waters so critical,
Of a place of space and time,
Fuming the sky with a blaze of fire,
We're riding the portal into another dimension,
We see the philosophers of another era,
Eyeballing our faces with judgement,
They stare heavily into what we know,
I'm breathing,
I see a sea of worthless animals,
Yet it still beckons me to uphold that which can only grow,
Feel the words of a thousand eras,
Melt into the ground,
Around us once was life,
Now it's all dead,
Outside there is snow,
The trees no longer green,
A pale blue; why?
Why do we die?
Why do we thrive?
We're not accepted,
We are mortal,
Make amends to the past,
Cannot be done,
Undone still it is yet,
Wonder,
Why?
Must we grow,
One being,
A single universe.
