the sad in you drew me
into you
dear one
not the laughter
or refined bits
the melancholy
song that clouds
your lovely form
your movements
are precisely
timed
to keep it down
the wounded nature
in your smile
the careful words you speak
the cautious way your head
tilts so your eyes
can look around
the way you brace
yourself
for the impact of a gist
oh you can fool the fools
but never me
because I see the splendor
in your plight
the fear the flight
the bravery
your tragedy
in it’s rarest hour
is magnificent to me
I could watch you
move the pieces
on your board around
all day every night
if you would only
take a chance
I could sooth it
just a bit
I’m in love
with you
