When Morning Is Too Bright For Sore Eyes
I find it strikingly odd
the thing that keeps me awake
has me day dreaming of getting more sleep
where was it when midnight struck
and my mind was shifting gears
no melatonin moments of happiness
as sleep was in the rear view mirror
I walk outside into the wetness
where jungles have flourished thru night fall
I feel the dew didn't get no rest either
and the grass growth is half-calf tall
my sickle might need to be sharpened
but can't remember what I did with that stone
maybe there's that one in the alley
I tripped over drunken yesterday on my way home
I wished the sun would stop shining
so I could see thru these drug mazed halls
more than one pill calling off to another
trying to slow down this day to a crawl
the thing that keeps me awake
has me day dreaming of getting more sleep
where was it when midnight struck
and my mind was shifting gears
no melatonin moments of happiness
as sleep was in the rear view mirror
I walk outside into the wetness
where jungles have flourished thru night fall
I feel the dew didn't get no rest either
and the grass growth is half-calf tall
my sickle might need to be sharpened
but can't remember what I did with that stone
maybe there's that one in the alley
I tripped over drunken yesterday on my way home
I wished the sun would stop shining
so I could see thru these drug mazed halls
more than one pill calling off to another
trying to slow down this day to a crawl

Oooph...and there you set the whole tone for what followed. I know this feeling very well. Loved the feel of this one from beginning to end. Here's to sleepy eyes & dewy paths...

This was a great read, Tim. The part about one pill calling off to another is so apt - many take pills to sleep and then take them to wake up!

I can`t write like
this, and that`s all
I`m gonna say ...
however, the visual
you paint, luv, is
quite remarkable
and incredibly
inebriating ...
you pull the reader
in then you leave them
wanting more ... excellent ❤

I’m right there with Willow, it pulled me in from the first stanza. It was perfect for today when I took this and that to sleep and never did and now I have a whole day to go on with. Great write, Tim ❤️

I love the Balance, you paint a picture of how we suffer from our poison..

Damn Tim, Miss D has you writing like never before..an old you with a slightly intense edge. Most of all, it brings a tear to my eye because I remember these feelings... all but a fleeting memory now! Sigh.

dearest Tim I read this yesterday
I didn't know what to say except this is a powerful write
one I can relate to I used to use methadone to do just this...
"I wished the sun would stop shining
so I could see thru these drug mazed halls
more than one pill calling off to another
trying to slow down this day to a crawl"
bloody great I notice
you are revealing the heart of the matter lately
that's not easy to do...
powerful...
love Brenda ❤
