Black Liquid Eyeliner

Her clothes reeked of shame
her eyes leaked of pain
the mirror once her friend
now her mortal enemy,
her dark roots seeped through
bleached blonde hair
mascara smeared into
her crows feet
a public bathroom
her boudoir, she sits down
on the inglorious toilet seat
a full looking glass was to much
for her, she despised her reflection
she pulled out her compact
that way she could only see
a portion of her face at a time
when she did her eyeliner went
between her legs and was now
swimming in a porcelain abyss
she wet an old tissue with her
spit, trying to clean the black
from the creases time put on her face
she's trying so hard not to cry
her throat begins hurt, one drop
falls she quickly wipes it away
she just keeps rubbing at the
black smudges, her tissue begins
to fall apart so she tosses it to the
floor only to have it land at her feet
she kicks it away into a dirty corner
of her only refuge, she needs more
tissue but the two stahls are empty
only an electric hand dryer hangs
on the wall, she can no longer
control the deluge, she fumbles
through her backpack only to
pull out the only clean shirt she owns
wiping her face she streaks the shirt
with make-up, more sobbing then
she smacks her face to try and stop
herself from dying on the dirty floor
of a shitty gas station, she takes another
long look at herself pulling out her
wine colored lipstick she pouts her
lips out, instead of painting them
she writes " I can no longer look"
on the mirror that that mocked
her pain, stepping back only to stumble,
she dropped her backpack, the only
things she owned in this life fell out
on to the nastyness
her compact broke her mascara rolled
towards the piss near toilet and her
soul watched as everything went wrong
her mind was made up, she didnt
gather her things she just left, she didn't
look back, she walked slowly at first
watching the road she saw headlights
leaving everything she ever was behind
she ran until the lights took her into
the sky. poor lady was taken out by
a Peterbilt semi.
