Back To The Egg
Good-bye my friend
I'm goin' back to the egg
Where no light ever shines
To the void of the mind
Leavin' life far behind
Yes my ship will be sailing tomorrow
Good-bye my dear
I'm goin' back to the egg
Where no one's ever been
So that I can't be seen
While I lie back and dream
Yes my dear I'll be dreaming about you
Leaving on that dirt road down there
'Cos you don't seem to care
And you've got them lying for you
But babe who's lyin' on you
Has he eyes enough to see through your smile?
Good-bye my love
I'm goin' back to the egg
Going to lie down and sleep
In the womb of the Earth
Back before my life's birth
Yes my love I'll be sleeping tomorrow

well the ironic thing is, this is a song, lol... is that ironic, or just an Alonis kind of irony? HA! But songs really are poetry in motion, so thank you for the compliment, I do not always feel like a poetryman, but when my muse comes to me, she inspires me in the deepest holes of my soul. jj

I often wonder... if your muse is a woman, is mine a man? Its a good poem although its a song...lyrics should have meanings too...not just 'o baby baby baby ooo baby baby...' how inspired could one be! hahah.

well, not ever actually having seen my muse, I feel she's a woman. I think I feel that way because the thought of being erotically inspired by anyone not female makes me want to cry, lol... The only men who have ever made me want to kill myself are the ones who stole my girlfriends. And because I am in touch with my feelings, and sensative to the feelings of others, my muse cannot possibly be male, lol...

:D unfortunately my muses are almost all strangers...interesting men or half-gods in my imaginings. Now that I think is over the top. We live and learn, I suppose. :D but of course women muses would be yours, suggesting otherwise gives me that shiver..(uck!) :D.

inspiration comes from many things for me, I am not sure that there is always a mystical being or even a person. When I have fallen for a woman, I always feel she is the one inspiring me to write. Sometimes nature itself inspires me, but sometimes poems seem to come all of the sudden, without thought or feeling, and I just write the words that come to mind. So who knows what a muse is, maybe it is just a word to describe the spark of art. jj
you know what I mean...

Inspirations about eros, you know, physical love would of course be the opposite gender for us but basically inspirations on writing on other topics could be sights, situations or feelings. It could be nature. Yes. Muses are intangible things or beings maybe. Food for thought there. Be that as it may, you are a good writer. :D well you have the background, so that stands to reason.

it may seem that way, but really, my background before I began writing would have lead you to believe I would be anything but a poet. I hated English class untill 10th grade when we started reading poetry. Even then it took me a couple of years to really see it for something other than classwork. You may want to read my poem "Aisumasen Renee", which has a very long explanation in one of my responces to explain the poem and it's inspiration. That is my first real poem. If not for the events that lead to it's writing, including John Lennon's death 31 years ago last week, I would never have written any of the poems that followed. If I had written any poems at all, they likely would not have been anything worth publishing.
My background as a Teacher's Aide in English is a direct result of writing poetry. Although I had written a few poems in high school, it wasn't until college when I really began to enjoy English class and write more serious poems, mostly love poems to my then girlfriend.

I almost can't believe I wrote that on my 19th birthday. Seems like yesterday, but then I have forgotten most of my years between 20 and 32, so it almost is like yesterday, lol... That was almost 30 years ago and I'm still energizing my bunny...

thanks, it's cool to be appreciated. I have not been on much for the past few weeks due to illness, but I will be back writing and commenting soon enough. Spent the better part of the past 3 weeks in the hospital and it has been a hell of an experience, hmm, Devilish, eh? Did you have something to do with this? lol..... jj
