the Singing Tree

All I know
is the place I used to rest
underneath the singing tree
next to the riverbed
and when I brought you there
the moonlight in your hair
you said it would be best
then you kissed my head and left

and I know nothing but this tree
the river and these leaves
so I'll hide and I'll rest
in the place I know best
underneath my singing tree
underneath my singing tree
x2

All I know
is the place I used to rest
with my head by the moss
singing songs up to the moon
there in the midnight calm
and when I begin to hum
the tune of me and you
you come back to life
and I remember
I remember me and you

and I know nothing but this tree
the river and these leaves
so I'll hide and I'll rest
in the place I know best
underneath my singing tree
underneath my singing tree
x2

I know nothing but this tree
it's safe here beneath the leaves
the rush of the river in my ears
drowning out the misery
I know nothing but this tree
underneath my singing tree
underneath my singing tree
this is where Im meant to be
