America, America – Sonnet Twenty-Seven
Let me submit consideration’s void,
Where once we thought that truth was freedom’s voice.
With Goebbel-speak is every truth destroyed,
To echo-chamber’s broken cross rejoice.
Now borders dot in thousands caged detain,
As corporations drink their profits’ fill,
From taxes drained from those whose labors’ gained
That borders crossed to work the cages’ mill.
Where once the truth of “huddled masses” shows
To be just conman’s under-table deals,
Of children held apart in captive rows
And forcing captive smiles for truths' conceal.
America, America! God shed
In children’s tears the truth of truth misled.
Where once we thought that truth was freedom’s voice.
With Goebbel-speak is every truth destroyed,
To echo-chamber’s broken cross rejoice.
Now borders dot in thousands caged detain,
As corporations drink their profits’ fill,
From taxes drained from those whose labors’ gained

Where once the truth of “huddled masses” shows
To be just conman’s under-table deals,
Of children held apart in captive rows
And forcing captive smiles for truths' conceal.
America, America! God shed
In children’s tears the truth of truth misled.
