utopia concealed
i can only imagine
And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first

the lion and the lamb,
playmates.
the best of who i am,
no gates
to separate the earth
from heav’n.
no mothers in childbirth
pain riv’n.
i can only imagine
the glory that will be
when time loses its limits
for all eternity
no thorns upon the rose
that blooms.
no sweat upon the brows.
no tombs
of loved ones dead and gone.
no tears
to trickle from my eyes.
no fears.
i can only imagine

the devil will be dead
and death
will bring no further dread,
thus saith
the High and Mighty One,
Who is
The God Who is to come
With bliss.

Utopia, an imaginary perfect city that will never be more than a figment of the imagination, is for those who dream without hope. Heaven (the New Jerusalem), a literal perfect city that will come down from God, is for those who yearn in faith for that Glorious Day when He shall wipe away all tears from their eyes. I can only imagine!

The word 'Utopia' actually means 'Nowhere', was first used by Catholic English statesman Sir Thomas More as title for his account of a future world on earth that was not BIblical based.

Truth is, I am aware of the "real" (or unreal) Utopia. Hence, I've translated it to suit my own devices. That is why I use the title term "utopia concealed." There WILL BE a future world on earth, which is very much BIblical (see the Revelation reference). The last stanza says it all: the blind will never see the world made new (the New Jerusalem).

Ah, you've landed on one of my favourite stanzas in this poem! Thank you for restating the message and making me contemplate it even more seriously.
