Defy the world...

As the sun beats down on my undying body,
I see your face, as clear as the night sky.
And as pure as the moon that fills the world with a dimming glow.

These chains that bind me to my own destruction,
Rust as the years go by.
My body may grow old and die,
Yet my love for you will always go on.

Your voice is all I live for, even when you are distant,
I hear you.
Carried by the winds that cut through to the bone.

Even though my love for you is stronger,
Than any power in the universe.
I still feel the harsh reality of knowing that,
Whilst my heart lies with you,
Yours lies with another.

It kills me more than the pain I feel from these chains that bind me.
I find myself at night, screaming your name,
And cursing the gods for this fate I have been dealt.

Is it a crime to defy the very god for the one you love?
Is it wrong to love someone who you know loves another?
And is it shameful to cry for the one you love?

If so, then I'd spend all eternity, chained to this rock,
Laughed at, humiliated and looked down on.
All because I defied the world, just to make you smile...
