Math Equations Form the Least Common Denominator
Teaching a young boy about the mystery of his existence
About where his father disappeared to one morning
How the tears of his mother were not for herself
Why his life would never be the same and he is not to blame
That one plus one only equals two in the selfish pages of math books in school
How getting an A in life is the worst grade of all
And earning an F is no failure on a report card
But instead this letter is the most sought after in life
One must choose between shadows cast by two
When L stands for loneliness there is no escape from the loss
But if one plus one combine to equal three
L rises from emptiness to form unequaled love
Yet sometimes L falls between lies whispered by their teller
For one who deceives himself fools only his reflection
Still others strive for the elusive F that embraces family
Rejecting grade A that remains forever Alone
Running from the love that truer hearts beat for with thunder
The love of your mother has never left her heart
And now she calculates with hope that adding one to the two of you
Will earn the F you both deserve and long for
While I aspire to change my fate from one alone
To a higher grade where she and you and me make three
So you see how life is just another school
Where you're never too old or too young to learn
Life's lessons educate everyone on a special alphabet
Where no matter how many times history repeats
Mathematics is the answer key where one plus one makes a unity of three
