Sinking Feeling

I struggle through the depths
But contract the bends
My body floats on the waves
But my soul stays behind

Is this peace? Is it death?
There is no certainty
I thus far sense the pressure
The weight of the sea

The surface seems quite distant
Water takes my breath
I settle in the silt
While sharks circle overhead.
