THREE DISTINCT LONG DISTANCES
i.
Expert conjurer
and her protégé play at
Dionysian chess
(maybe strip poker?)
We both think, a little scared:
take me as I am
…and yet, and yet, and
yet, and yet (our words at least
keep each other wet)
ii.
Feels incestuous
to long for her so. And useless.
Does it anyhow.
Jointly we each dream
of a life more wild and free
than this being allows
There is a whole world
together we miss out on—
so good it feels bad
iii.
All work and no play
keeps jacking •ff a dull ploy.
Up her sleeve: an ace
(Two double meanings^
in that third line, if you are
up on ruttish slang)
It has been so long—
I don’t really know how to
sleep next to someone

That second part is about my "cosmic twin" ex who lives a few hundred miles away. We haven't been romantically involved for 24 years and she is close to my wife and kids, but man is our relationship intense.
