HE FED THE BEES HER TEARS
“He fed the bees her tears”
Sounds like love’s sad ending,
But He’s a happy her
Whose eye is now mending…
She’d gone to the doctor
With one eye swollen shut
What the doc saw shocked her:
Peeping out- a bee’s foot
Wiggling from her socket-
How could it be alive?
Like a deft pickpocket
The doctor then deprived
He’s eye of its four thieves-
Halictidae they’re called
(But to us they’re “sweat bees”).
Inside her eye they’d crawled
When He was sweeping tombs.
She had pulled up some weeds
And the bees there assumed
Where there’s salt they could feed
So took up residence.
(That’s all they reported-
Sure there was some suspense
But it all got sorted)

Good spill here describing that article. I remember that news bit. Incredible
Reminded me of when I worked as an LVN in San Diego and a woman came in to emergency room with a huge bulge on her cheek and it turned out there were hundreds of baby spiders in there. I kept wondering why she waited so long to come in.
