not enough varnish
lesson of the day is:
'nothing lasts forever'
like wayward ash
geronimo-ing from
a cigarette on a
windy day in april,
like a river running dry,
or big ol' double rainbows,
vacations, and
ice cream in the sun,
candles burning
through their last
inch of wick,
or
someone you love
performing
their swan song
covert beneath a bridge.
*
nothing lasts forever,
but the quiet stir of
Her voice scares the dark.
